Vail Pass Rest Area

Located at the summit of Vail Pass along Interstate 70, the Vail Pass Rest Area replacement project is designed to modernize and expand one of Colorado’s most critical mountain facilities. The new development will provide improved services for travelers, enhance operational efficiency, and address long-standing infrastructure challenges at the site.

The project will feature a new restroom facility built to accommodate current and future visitor capacity, ensuring reliable access for the high volume of travelers who use the pass year-round. A new drinking water treatment system will be installed to meet health department standards and provide a dependable supply for the increased demand.

Parking capacity will be expanded to serve a greater number of passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and recreational users. Redesigned traffic circulation patterns will improve accessibility and safety, offering smoother connections to the rest area, surrounding roads, and trail systems.
